Danielle: United States; I am not a chef. In fact, one year ago, the only thing I could cook was rice. When I graduated from college and followed my heart to Washington, D.C., I found myself unpacking spotless pots and untouched cooking equipment, provided to me by mother, who views cooking as a waste of time. Uninspired, I neglected these tools for several months, but after living on various rice combinations for a length of time--chickpeas and rice, hot sauce and rice, and a cringe-worthy 'rice stew' concoction-I decided that wholesome, home-cooked food was worth investing in. Slowly but surely I taught myself how to make easy, tasty meals and managed to ignite a new passion for cooking. This blog is for those of you in similar situations. It's for those who are new to the kitchen and unfamiliar with the wonderful art of cooking. I offer simple recipes and tips that will help guide you through your culinary growth-spurt and will have you hosting dinner parties in no time. Start ripping the labels off of your utensils. It's time to eat.
